She started making music at 15, after completing a challenging online freshman year at a STEM high school she was pressured to attend. A friend suggested she drop out, which she declined. During this time, she wrote her first song, "Exemplary," addressing the double standards women face. Her parents were upset when she told them she wouldn’t go to medical school or continue education in the program. After she expressed her desire to be a musician, her mother supported her artistic career path. She released my first song on August 13, 2021. Initially, she was doubtful due to anxiety and the dismissive response from family. Upon release, the single received numerous positive feedback. Her father said, “Wow. I am so impressed with you and your songwriting skills. You are going to be big. You are going to be a millionaire someday. I am so proud of you, I showed all my friends.”
In her youth, her mother frequently referred to her as musically inclined. Notable moments include dancing to Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" late at night in their father's office, feeling like a true performer. Rayna relished using an MP3 player to enjoy music. Despite their deep love for music, they felt shy about sharing her passion with her parents. During a family vacation talent show, she astonished everyone by singing a song from "Annie," prompting her parents to encourage her to take singing lessons. She decided to concentrate on vocal skills and briefly partook in piano.
