Dena G, an Iranian singer-songwriter based in Alberta, Canada released track ‘Greedy,’ a song built on a tender piano with drums that create a moving energy. Alongside the powerful instrumental produced by Austin Weller, Dena’s vocals push the storytelling of the song to a level of otherworldliness—stacked with beautiful harmonies, falsettos, and riffs.
Its premise falls on a story of pain, heartache, and mourning a love that no longer exists as she repeats throughout the entirety of the song: “I wear my pain like it’s my skin / A battle that I’ll never win with you / But I’m just skin and bones / Is that something you don’t know? / You take my heart then let go”. With its heavy lyrics and dark-pop influence, a listener feels these same emotions. Thus, proving the power Dena G’s voice holds.
