Michael Mazochi

Michael Mazochi is an Alternative Musical Artist based in Los Angeles, California, from upstate New York. His musical debut officially began in the year 2005. His debut album (recorded in New York) A Day Without The Rose, released on April 19, 2005, is a 12-track mainly focused on blues and country influences. In the early 2000’s, the American Singer-Songwriter earned nominations from the L.A. Music Awards in 2006 for Folk Album of the Year from his second album California Bound and male folk singer/songwriter and won both categories. On June 21st, 2006, Billboard Magazine featured him after the album's release. Several popular film and television series, Queen of The South, Gossip Girl, and others featured the album. He has been active as a solo musician since his debut, aside from his connection to the band The Von Furs. Currently, Michael Mazochi has released thirteen standalone albums.

In New York, he realized his autonomy influenced his creativity as an artist. His living conditions were challenging prior to his relocation, resulting in a reliance on resourcefulness, talent, and networking. Several outlets featured the musician, as he openly expressed the complexities and liberation of being an artist who focuses heavily on the structure and composition of their work(s). Michael Mazochi has progressively shifted his style to a fusion of experimental electronic music. Influenced by Autechre and Boards of Canada, Mazochi's music now showcases a new aspect of his artistry. His recent EP, Strange Animals, features a track titled “Animals”, which has a social message of the injustice of privileged parties dehumanizing those to whom they feel superior in comparison. The single is multi-layered, with allusions to social injustice.

“I just released a new single called ‘Time Will Tell’ that's sort of reminiscent of early MGMT or something like that and I am working on two new albums that are quite different. One is more ambient and will hopefully be my first non-vocal electronic album and the other is more of an album in the sense that it would be the next one for my normal trajectory.” - Michael Mazochi
