Kelly Vargas
Originally from Long Island, New York, Kelly Vargas is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. With a bilingual discography and a Costa Rican-American background, Kelly combines genres as diverse as Alternative R&B, Pop, and Latin. At the age of 12, Kelly began singing and playing guitar. She became familiarized with the classics of the 70s through the 80s via her parents as she matured. As an artist, the 90's R&B, Pop, Alt-Rock, and hip-hop era encouraged her songwriting and musical interests. Since she was a child, Kelly was classically and jazz-trained on vocals while also being involved in musical theatre throughout grade school. At the age of 17, she began piano lessons and wrote original songs on the guitar and piano. She later decided to professionally pursue music composition and production at Berklee College of Music from 2015 to 2019 on a scholarship. During her college years, she performed at various locations such as Boston, Long Island, New York City, and Valencia, Spain. She later graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
Inspired by Sabrina Claudio, Jorja Smith, and Kali Uchis, Kelly has carved her unique presence in the music industry with harmonic vocals and moxie. Kelly also showcased her versatility as a producer and writer, exploring genres such as Lo-Fi/Hip-Hop and Electronic Pop on SoundCloud. With songwriting credits for several artists, Kelly has proven her ability to create compelling pieces. Her published work had a notable production value and masterful composition. Her dedication to honing her craft shines through in every aspect of her career. One of Kelly's most notable achievements is the viral success of her single "Consentida", which released on August 18th, 2023. The accompanying music video, directed by the highly acclaimed Alissa Wyle, further propelled the song's popularity when released on August 25th, 2023. The single became her best-performing project, garnering praise from fans, media outlets, and various publications.
