The Frankie Fortuna Memorial Skatepark Contest
In loving memory of the late Frankie Fortuna, the first annual Frankie Fortuna Memorial Skatepark Contest took place on June 07, 2025. The memorial skate contest was created by two of Frankie's close friends, musical artists BiGMoley and AV-8. A separate fundraising campaign was launched in 2019 by his family, friends, and community members. By 2023 enough proceeds were raised to continue his legacy through the renovation of the local park. In 2023, the park was built by Fortuna's family with support from local residents, state officials, skating communities, and The Skatepark Project (Tony Hawk's Foundation). Local backers like Respected Rejectz, Odd Mirage Studio, The Backlot, and Pedro’s Potties also contributed in support of Frankie by contributing to sponsoring the first skate event.
Second Annual Memorial
The second annual memorial took place on June 27, 2026. Turnout and community engagement were far larger compared to the first event, reflecting the lasting impact and spirit of Frankie Fortuna. Awareness continues to grow, and his memory is cherished more with each passing year. The event featured custom prizes, several competitive divisions, numerous vendors, live entertainment, and food. Beyond the competition, it provided a space for skaters and supporters to come together as a community. Next year will continue this tradition and celebration of life, and we hope even more people will come out to support it.
