Dope TAF: THE WISEMAN WENT MAD. REVIEW

THE WISEMAN WENT MAD. - EP by Dope TAF

THE WISEMAN WENT MAD. EP by Dope TAF is one of his most polished entries so far. The production veers between old-school smooth jazz and hip-hop, giving TAF plenty of room to inhabit his persona: a wise but unpredictable figure, oscillating between conviction and contention. Dope TAF's tracks “leauxceiling.” and “vacation groove.” showcase his range—from antagonistic bravado to a more melodic recluse. For a short-form project, it's memorable, feels honest, and is definitely a rarity in the climate and culture of the underground. With exceptional features from three talented upcoming musical artists: Miyah Mosley, Nalii, and JMeans.

Key Points

  • Cohesion: The project is very thorough, which is what you could expect in a project such as good kid, m.A.A.d city.
  • Brevity: The project being 13 minutes makes it harder for listeners to be removed from the stories.
  • Safe: Structurally little risk was taken.

RATING: 8/10
