GenoDa1

Eugene "Geno" Vargas, professionally known as GenoDa1, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Based in Homestead, Florida, he began pursuing music near the end of his senior year at South Plantation High School. Before focusing on a solo music career, he played varsity basketball for the South Plantation Paladins. From 2014 to 2015, the musician wrote songs for other artists in the area. Later, he moved to Los Angeles, where he attended a 2-year college. Inspired by well-known artists such as Jay-Z, Kanye, Lil Wayne, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar, he became a full-time musician in 2015. Initially, GenoDa1 was interested in writing to express emotions after a significant relationship. That introduction led him to create more music based on personal events, both positive and negative. Under the label Trend Def, his debut single, ‘Paranoid’ featuring musical artist Gregory Goldwire, was released on January 23, 2018.

One of his most notable album releases, 3am Sessions (2022), was based on heartbreak. After moving to Georgia with his former partner of four years, his fiancée abruptly left. The project performed well and became his most popular release, with Poze Productions coining the single a "hot new project.” Due to his trajectory and performance, he began gaining exposure from prominent media outlets. SOXO Radio, EARMILK, IndiePulse Magazine, The Clout Magazine, and 24Hip-Hop. Released on February 25, 2023, “This Isn’t New 2 You” placed number seven on the Canadian Hip-Hop iTunes Charts on May 10, 2023. His follow-up 3-song EP, INFRARED, was met with similar success, with EARMILK crediting his penmanship. His single, "YGMFU,” was teased on May 3, 2024, and was released seven days later. During the SXSW festival, he was interviewed by IMG (Indi Music Group), and he continued to promote the single. On March 14, 2024, GenoDa1 performed at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
