Essi Sings
Singer Essi Sings is a multimedia artist focusing on music. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she now resides in North Carolina where she was raised. The singer-songwriter, producer, guitarist, model, and actor has been active in the arts for over ten years consecutively. Modeling and acting have been a part of her life since she was five years old. She has appeared in several short films and a commercial for the Heineken company. Nisha was her latest role in a short film called The Wild Ones (2022). Additionally, the artist has been published internationally. Initially, she became involved in her community by hosting and performing live events. In 2022, she founded the North Carolina-based publication "Candid Culture Arts," which supports and promotes local artists. In the early stages of her career, she primarily performed at open mics and then moved to local festivals and venues. She began uploading her music directly to SoundCloud in 2015.
In an interview with SOXO Radio Essi states "The future of the quality of humanity inspires me to spread positive messages of strength and (self)respect. I value wholesome things that are here to be enjoyed and can offer a lesson if you are present enough to recognize it!" Actively creating and supporting positive environments, she has a very distinct discography. For example, her October 1st, 2021 release, "You're My Holiday," from her EP PRIMARY, evokes intimate emotions. 'Accumulated Energy' is a project by Essi featuring Russian jazz musician Marik. Due to dissatisfaction with the final product, the earliest version of the song was scrapped. Essi re-wrote the song and published a masterfully crafted and professionally recorded version on October 18th, 2019. A range of relatable and human topics are also conveyed in “Good Luck Trying”, “Pizza Gurl” and “Need You Here! ” Her consistency as a creative talent led to certain defining moments introducing her to more industry connections and listeners. As an artist, her work and efforts are perfected and respected, so much so that she has co-produced for more than one Grammy-winning artist.
She also played a surprise show in Chicago just three days after arriving. Sofar Sounds Chicago received Essi Sings well and supported the rising star. After being asked about upcoming projects Essi informed us that "Defense" is a new single I have coming out this fall, produced by Trai from the Ville and mixed and mastered by CouchGuy.
