Amir Royale

Amir Angelo Oliver, known professionally as Amir Royale, was born on October 16th, 1998. Royale is a native of the historic African-American art district, Saint Albans, Queens in New York City. Following the loss of his mother (Susan Dulce Garcia) in mid-2005, Royale was raised by his grandparents (Robert Oliver Jr. & Martha Ellison Oliver) and father (Prince Royale), which motivated him to pursue higher education and artistic endeavors in their memory. Growing up, Royale was immersed in jazz, R&B, and soul music — even participating in a gospel club during his kindergarten years. As he matured, Royale developed a deep appreciation for music icons such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Logic, Drake, Jon Bellion, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar & ELHAE from North Dakota. Royale attended Public Elementary St. Albans School 36, Renaissance Middle School 192, and Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where he studied Drama. Later, Royale pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Recorded Music and a minor in Cinema Studies at New York University's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. During his early years at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, Royale met fellow poet Daniel A. Hall, also known as Authentic Intelligence, forming a collaborative friendship. One day, during a school freestyle cypher, Royale showcased his skills and caught the attention of a schoolmate — WHEN THEY SEE US Emmy-winner, Jharrel Jerome. This encounter led to Royale being featured on the lead single "Big Spender," off Jerome's debut mixtape, F.M.L. (Feel My Lyrics).

As a high school senior, Royale was introduced to his main recording home, Cove City Sound Studios by Los Angeles hitmaker, Eren Cannata (who Royale now considers a close friend and mentor). Eren, who co-owned the Long Island studio with his father Richie Cannata, had invited Royale to visit Cove when Royale was younger, but unfortunately, Royale couldn't make it. However, once Royale finally got accepted into NYU, Eren extended another invitation for collaboration when Royale was around 19 years old. To Royale’s surprise, Cove City Sound Studios turned out to be the same place one of his songwriting idols, Jon Bellion, had recorded his debut and sophomore albums, The Human Condition and Glory Sound Prep in 2016 and 2017. This discovery left Royale feeling limitless, bringing him closer to the musical inspirations that shaped his artistic journey. Cove City Sound Studios holds a special place in Royale’s heart, as it happens to be one of the first and last few places where Royale’s grandparents witnessed him working in his chosen profession. Now in his mid-twenties, Royale has gained support and recognition from various industries and careers, thanks to his remarkable artist, academic, and educator talents. Alongside his acting career (which includes appearances in films like Nicholas Payne Santos’s BREAK and I AM YOUR FRIEND, as well as the Gummy Film’s dark comedy, WHAT DOESN’T FLOAT with Pauline Chalamet, Larry Fessenden, Declan Eells & Lily Sondik). Royale has also showcased his skills in Broadway musicals such as SWEETEE, INTO THE WOODS, and THE LION KING, as well as theater, shows like NOTHING HUMAN, AT ALL COST, and DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA. Furthermore, Royale has expanded his creative endeavors into filmmaking, releasing original short films, features, music videos, and documentary content.

After completing his post-graduation studies at New York University, Royale offered his first two official singles to the public, "People Say" and "Hold It Down (Freestyle)". Royale now serves at NYU as an adjunct professor. While still receiving constant mentorship and guidance from the Tisch School of the Arts community, Royale now serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of M. StageScene Communications, a multimedia production studio and marketing company based in New York, NY. He also held the esteemed position of the first Chief Content Officer and Studio Manager at Lisendeep Music Group, a music production and artist management company in Brooklyn, NY. Royale has made significant contributions as a film editor at Blowback Productions, an Emmy award-winning documentary house in NYC, under the guidance of the renowned visionaries, Marc Levin and Daphne Pinkerson. Furthermore, he remains an active creative freelancer at Mass Appeal Media, a prominent Hip-Hop entertainment company associated with the legendary Queens rapper, Nasir “Nas” Jones. Known colloquially as "Mr. Disney Dilla," Royale takes pride in his genre creation of "Mystic Blues," which explores the emotional intersections between musical theatre and popular music.

Royale's latest musical EP, Stories of the Lost, Rich & Tormented (SOTLRAT), which was made available on December 16th, 2022, showcases his polymathic ability to seamlessly blend his Hip-Hop/R&B influences with elements of pop and electronic music. The SOTLRAT EP features notable collaborations with Eren Cannata (Royale’s mentor) from Facethouse Records and Warner Chappell Music, as well as Austin Brenner, who is known best for his work with the NY-based rock band, The Telescreens. On January 5th, 2024, Royale released The Singletons, a compilation of his greatest hits, spanning from his emotional debut single, "People Say," in 2020 to his most recent heartwarming release, "Once Upon A Time," which pays tribute to his late grandfather, Robert Oliver Jr. Additionally, Royale is currently preparing for the release of his second feature film with Jeff Lipsky, which is scheduled to be released in late 2024. Several exciting projects are also in the pipeline, including new music releases and an official music video.
